Dear Figure Skating Friend: The Butte Figure Skating Club is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), youth oriented organization that promotes teamwork, work ethics and helps enhance figure skating skills in their members. The primary focus is recreation, but at the same time encourages and recognizes further advancement if a member wishes to take the initiative to do so. The Butte Figure Skating Club has been a part of Butte's culture since 1952. The cost of the instructor and the ice is always a concern for the Club. The Club charges a membership monthly fee when joining. This fee includes group lessons and covers ice time at the Community Ice Rink. Our Club encourages individuals from all walks of life to join. However, due to the expensive costs of ice, the Club is only able to afford ice arena rental once a week. We have members who cannot pay the entire fee and because of this, we do need to have sponsors in order to continue to provide this lifelong skill. The Butte Figure Skating Club hopes the community of Butte recognizes the importance of figure skating for those who do not participate in any other sport and who wish to participate in a sport that is not only a team sport but an individual sport as well. Figure skating is also a great form of exercise and helps build confidence, endurance and coordination. The Butte Figure Skating Club produces a Christmas Show and the Season Finale, enabling the skater a chance to perform and have pride in showing off their hard earned skills. Each year, the skaters advance in their skating skills by practicing in group lessons and then practicing what they learned during the remainder of ice time. Our Coaching Instructor teaches the skaters to skate in precision and to work with others to provide an enjoyable program for the audience. The practice and dedication needed for such a performance gives the skater a sense of pride in their accomplishments. However, it is extremely expensive to pay for ice time. In addition to paying a monthly fee, each skating family has criteria they must meet in order to help pay for the costs associated with production of the 2 annual shows. With the purchase of ice, the Butte Figure Skating Club instructors will be offering group, one on one, basic skills, freestyle and competition instructional lessons. It is believed that lesson of self discipline, self-esteem and concentration learned by students during figure skating participation spill over into their academic and daily lives. Therefore, The Butte Figure Skating Club is asking you to help enable a skater the opportunity to continue skating by making a generous contribution to help defray costs associated for the skating year. The following are a list of expenses incurred by each skating individual associated with skating in the Butte Figure Skating Club:
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated and is desperately needed. Without your generous donation, this skater may not be able to participate in all club activities. The members of the Butte Figure Skating Club would like to thank you for your consideration. If you would like to become a sponsor of this skater, please send a check to the above mentioned address. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to call Kris at 490-8876 or Lisa at 310-0754. Sincerely yours,
